Burns Square
Historic Burns Square’s name is derived from its founding father, Owen Burns. Mr. Burns visited Sarasota on a fishing trip and afterward purchased 75% of the land of the city. Burns helped in organizing the Sarasota Board of Trade, and he found Sarasota’s first locally owned bank. The Burns Construction Company constructed the Ringling Causeway and built the John and Mable Ringling’s famous estate – Ca’d’zan.
Burns Square is located along Pineapple and Orange Avenue between Ringling Boulevard and Mound Street. The architecture of Burns Square is artistically inspired. This beautiful neighborhood is one of the most charming in Sarasota. Burns Square is sprinkled with historic homes, urban condominiums, antique shops, specialty boutiques, restaurants and cafes, as well as professional establishments.
